Meet Dez'arae

Dez’arae Adams is a mother, education leader, and committed community advocate with more than 15 years of experience serving children, families, educators, and schools. Throughout her career, she has worked to expand educational opportunities, strengthen instructional quality, support educators, and build partnerships that help children thrive.

Professional Biography

Dez’arae currently serves as Director of Early Childhood at Wayne County RESA, where she supports early childhood programs, educational leaders, educators, and community partners across Wayne County. Her professional experience includes leadership roles with Detroit Public Schools Community District, the Early Childhood Investment Corporation, and George Washington Carver Academy.

She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Michigan University, multiple Michigan teaching certifications, and is a doctoral candidate at Walden University. In 2025, she was recognized as a Michigan Chronicle 40 Under 40 honoree for her leadership, professional excellence, and commitment to serving her community.

Beyond her professional work, Dez’arae is the proud mother of two daughters. She understands that families want schools where their children are safe, challenged, supported, and prepared for the future. She is running for the Wayne Westland Community School Board to bring proven educational experience, thoughtful decision-making, and a strong commitment to listening to the community.
